Tuesday was Campus Crusade for Christ’s semiannual “Worldwide Day of Prayer”, when the entire ministry gathers together (in local groups, not in one place) to pray. Some thoughts…
- God is great, and He is at work around the world.
- I would have greater vision for my work if I spent more regular time praying for the worldwide ministry. The requests that we were asked to pray for on Tuesday are available at www.globalprayermovement.org
- The Global Day of Prayer, coming up in May, is a big deal. It’s not a Campus Crusade effort, but is a partnership between several different ministries. It started in 2000 in South Africa. In 2001, 45,000 people gathered in a stadium in Africa. In 2004, over 20 million people gathered at more than 2,000 sites across Africa. In 2006, an estimated 250 million Christians prayed in 198 countries. Learn more and get prayer guides at www.gdopusa.com (the US site) and www.globaldayofprayer.com (the main site).
- Preparations are being finalized for the huge student missions conference CM 2007, June 30 to July 6, in South Korea. We need to pray that all of the needed funds will be raised, that everyone who wants to come will be able to, and that many will be inspired to give their lives to God in greater ways. Click on “prayer” at the CM 2007 web site to print out your own prayer guide for this event.

Hello, Everyone. I’ve been sitting here not sure how to start this letter. There’s so much to be excited about, but in light of other people’s sorrow right now, well, let’s just say our hearts are torn. Many of you have already gotten an email with prayer requests for our ministry at Virginia Tech. In case you didn’t get that, here they are again:
- The families of the students who were killed
- The students who were injured and still in the hospital
- Three (we originally thought four) students that were involved with Campus Crusade were killed. Please pray for their families and friends.
- Survivors of the shootings who witnessed the horrors of that day. Pray for God’s grace and comfort
- Pray for wisdom for the CCC Staff and other campus ministers and pastors as they seek to counsel and love the hurting students
What has happened is horrific beyond words, and yet, in the midst of such horror, there is Christ. He experienced horror himself, all while carrying the weight of the sins of the world! This one man’s sin seems more than we can bear, so can you imagine how much Jesus went through to save us from our sins? He is a God who truly understands our sufferings and is there to heal our hearts. That’s our prayer for all those wounded by what happened this week.
Praise God because He is Risen indeed! Easter for us was a fun, happy time. Anja had a couple of Easter Egg hunts (and still has way too much candy). One was at Campus Crusade’s Headquarters. We are able to invite neighbors and Mrs. Bright (our founder) shared the Good News through a great tool called Resurrection Eggs. Each egg contains something that tells a piece of the story.

I can’t say it any better than one of our Campus Crusade leaders, who wrote:
As I’m sure you all know, the tragic events and great losses that occurred at Virginia Tech yesterday have left us grieving and clinging to the Lord in this difficult time. Though our understanding is limited, it is in these desperate times that we are reminded that we have a great High Priest who has gone before us, who loves us, and prepares a place for us. And because He stands at the right hand of the Father even now, we pray. We have been praying specifically for those who have experienced this unimaginable loss first-hand, but also for our staff and students at Virginia Tech who are coping with the raw emotions and pain in their midst.
The leadership of Campus Crusade has put out an invitation for people to call on God on Thursday. Specifically, pray for
- The families of the students who were killed
- The students who were injured and still in the hospital
- Four students that were involved with Campus Crusade were killed. Please pray for their families and friends.
- Survivors of the shootings who witnessed the horrors of that day. Pray for God’s grace and comfort
- Pray for wisdom for the CCC Staff and other campus ministers and pastors as they seek to counsel and love the hurting students

I got an email from Jim Green, the Executive Director of The JESUS Film Project, that many of you will be interested in. He gave me permission to post it here:
On Good Friday, April 6, CNN will broadcast a special on Christianity from 8-9 p.m. EST, the time slot in which “Paula Zahn Now” typically airs. During my interview for the show, I talked about how the “JESUS” film has reached people worldwide with the message of Christ. The special will also include interviews with Tim LaHaye (co-author of the “Left Behind” series) and Paul Lauer (promoted “The Passion of the Christ”). Interestingly, as Executive Director of The JESUS Film Project, I was asked the question, “Would you say this movie is measured not by its commercial success, but instead by its spiritual success?”
I’m sure this special will be of interest to all friends of film and media, and specifically friends of the “JESUS” film. May I encourage you to tell your family and friends, so they might watch too?
Join me in praying that Christ will be lifted up, and that people will be drawn to our Lord as they watch (John 12:32).
Thank you and may God bless you.
For Christ and His kingdom,
Jim Green
Executive Director
